First off, if you’re not following me on Twitter, you need to…

So roughly 45 days has gone by since we’ve talked and I’m excited about the upcoming add date.  That’s the day that we ask radio to add the single.  We’ve just begun combining our forces with folks from all over the music business.  It’s been an awesome experience meeting all these peeps and having them get geared up to go to work for us…

Look for more hints on the actual add date as we get closer to it.  I’ll be giving away a real cool prize to the person who can guess it…Don’t anyone post your responses on my wall, just send it in an email to Please include your full name, age & mailing address.  I promise you more contests and more chances to win cool things from myself and other artists…like, Blake Shelton, Whitney Duncan, Stephen Cochran, Ash Bowers, Danielle Peck, Randy Owen and whoever else I can swindle into playing along.  Be sure to send your guess into

“Come on ev’rybody raise your hands, If you’re a tiger fan”
Hell yes, College Football is back!!!!  I am so pumped up for Saturdays at Tiger Stadium.  I just wish I could be there for more of them… But I do look forward that I get to see some of the other schools and cities around the country this fall.  There’s just something about the fever that comes over me when I see the Tigers take the field.  I’m remixing “If You’re a Tiger Fan” for downloading very soon…look to hear it on Tiger Country 100.7 in Baton Rouge.  And don’t forget about “Geaux Tigers Beat Bama” when we face Bama this year.  We’re ready and I think after last nights’ opener, Coach Miles and the boys will be ready for a great season.

Well, since I’ve last shared my feelings on what I thought my next steps should be and what direction they should go, I have surely lived up to my self made promises.  Finally, I can now say that this Fall 2009 you, the public will actually get a chance to hear a nationally released debut single.  Only after I was turned down again by the labels in Nashville for the 5th time that I realized I was going to have to do this myself in order to have the chance that I feel I deserve.  If it doesn’t work, then at least I can say that I tried.  We are launching the debut single “That’s Love”, which you can sample on and give your own feedback on it.  I am excited to be announcing this wonderful opportunity that I am being given by the great family and friends that I share my life with.  We should begin a cross-country radio tour next month and if all works just right, have the add date in late Sept.

The After Thoughts

Posted in this week on July 6, 2009 by davidstromain

So I’m walking off the stage thinking, WOW that couldn’t of gone any better. And it seems that the majority felt the same way. We got alot of feedback from different directions, some was good, some interesting. But I have to remember that all feedback is good and can teach me alot. At the end of the day the four labels that were there all unsurprisingly passed… I knew it is was probably gonna happen anyhow. If you had spoken to me that week before I bet I predicted that outcome to you. First off, I’m not gonna give a full lesson on the music business but I will say that there’s not alot of opportunity in these major labels anymore. You’re almost forced to do things yourself. Even the big guys have to do it that way. John Rich had to pay for the video of Save a horse because Warner Bros would not pay for what they wanted. And that’s the song that put them on the map…sometimes we just have to take the bull by the horn. I will not give up what is in me. In my blood, and in my soul. So we are making steps to prepare and release a single this year.
Regardless, with today’s technology like YouTube and social networking, like what you’re reading right now, us artists eventually won’t need those labels.
So that is where we are in the scheme of things…
And don’t forget about the shows coming up throughout the fall and the DSR Cruise in January 2010.
Here’s a link to help you find any info…

Oh and you can make your own call on the showcase:::)))))))

Peace out and I’ll see you soon,

Still in Biloxi

On the 3rd day of the Biloxi stint I’m pretty much ready to get back to Nashville and get this showcase over with…

This week in Baton Rouge

Man time flies by. Everytime I think I’m staying on top of this blog I find myself fallin behind. It’s already been a week and I’m sitting here contemplating why I’m in such a crabby mood today. I think I haven’t had enough good sleep
lately thanks to two small
munchkins…they’re so sweet when they
want to be. So last week was fairly
productive. I always try to make the
most out of my time in the ville. My manager has started his own mgt company and is now working with Broken Bow Records. We are showcasing for them and other labels on the 30th in Nashville and it’s hard after 13 yrs of trying to impress Nashville label execs to have any faith in them. But maybe this time it’ll be different. We’ll least yall can watch it no matter where you are. DSR Showcase Live Web broadcast
I ran into Randy Owen last week in town and what a pleasant surprise that was. He has been such an inspiration to me in so many ways. His wife just had surgery on her shoulder and is in pain during her recovery so yall please pray for a speedy one..
Well, some of you know that I’ve been writing a lot lately and in the last year I started writing with Dan Tyler, my mentor. Well he called me three weeks ago because he had a great idea for a song, what started as the Underwear song and now has become the title “Let’s Get Down”. I think this is the most original song I’ve ever written and so far all the folks that hear it have shown me that they love it too. We’ll be doing it at te showcase so if you haven’t heard it you’ll get your chance then. We played Monroe Friday night and I’ve never been in a place that stays empty until midnight then packs out for two hours. It was a little nerve racking, especially when the Molly Ringwalds were playing right down the road. It’s hard to compete with a dress up Duran Duran cover band. What real talent that takes… was fun though and Libby finally got to join us for a show. Oh and Melissa came down with us for the weekend too. That was a treat. Saturday nite was the first time I’d ever played Phil Bradys in Baton Rouge, which is surprising because I’ve played almost every place in BR. It was a good time and I think the entire crowd consisted of either family or someone I went to high school or college with.
So I’m spending this week in BR getting things accomplished here while Libby does her work. On my way to play golf, so I’ll catch yall later.. Please feel free to comment or ask me at questions you my have…peace out…DSR

CMA FEST / And the weeks coming up

Posted in Day to Day or Week to Week with tags , , , on June 16, 2009 by davidstromain

Well two weeks have gone by and I’m already slacking at this blogging thing.  If I only had more time to write down all the things in my head, I could actually give you something interesting to read.  These last two weeks have been pretty hectic hosting my mom here at the house and then straight into CMA festival week.  Not to mention I put a band together for a showcase that didn’t happen.  That’s a story in itself.  I started that week bowling for St. Jude and realized how much I missed being in front of those fans, the ones who really make an effort to be a part of country music.  If only ya’ll could have seen what I did on Thursday, it was hilarious.  I must have told 20 people about the Nashville Navy party being at 3rd & Lindsley.  Well, when I showed up at 5 pm, there wasn’t a soul around but a band setting up for the night.  I knew I screwed that pooch… A quick text to Jamie Foxx and I realized I was a dumb…  That night, I sang “The Underwear Song” and the reaction was priceless.  Not to mention it was good to see all my cruising friends there like Ruth & my boy from Seattle Tony Bridges.  The Fan Club party was awesome, but hot as hell in the patio of Loser’s.  I think we had like 35 peeps there.  Not bad for a last minute situation…Bailey was jamming along the entire time I sang at the party.  She held that mic like she owned it.  She does call it her mic.  She’s pretty amazing.  I think that place is almost becoming a 2nd home for me.  I played both Friday and Saturday night at Loser’s and both nights were packed.  Nothing like Tony Phillips standing on a chair strumming his guitar like a goober…j/k…those guys over there are the shizzznett for hookin me up the way they do.  So, I met with my manager yesterday and we’re having a showcase on the 30th of June for the record labels here in Nashville.  I’m hesitant to put any faith in getting a deal simply for the fact that I’ve been trying for 13 yrs to get Nashville labels to believe in me.  I may end up having to do it myself.  Raising the money and putting it out there is not that easy though, it’s a real hard road to break in, so I sure would rather not do it that way.  We’ll see…  At least I will know whether or not I will be doing it myself or not.  I was walking into the office this morning and ran into Randy Owen.  After a quick hello and a hug, he “rolled on”…haha…he was meeting with Clay Walker about something.  I don’t think I mentioned, but I was asked to create a jingle for a steakhouse out of Kearney, NE and I submitted my idea yesterday to the president and I’m patiently waiting to hear a response from them whether they like it or not.  I’m kinda nervous because I’ve never done that before.  But I really like what I came up with, so we’ll see.  We’ll, I’m off to Monroe this Friday then to play at Phil Brady’s Blues Bar in Baton Rouge on Saturday.  It should be a slammin crowd thanks to the friends and family comin out.  The next week we’ll spend in BR doing various things with the family.  I have a show on Tuesday night at Southpaw’s in Prairieville.  That’s a real quaint place.  And Ron Jon is the bombdiggity…That starts at 8pm.  Then Thursday through Saturday I’m performing at Imperial Palace Casino…Ya’ll come out now, you hear….Peace out,

Moving into Day to Day

Moving into DAY to DAY, or really week to week…

DSR & Mel Tillis 5/28/09 Loser's Nashville, TN

I’ve missed my girls this week, although I feel like I achieved quite a bit while they were gone.  I remember last Sunday feeling kinda depressed after I was driving away from the airport.  I called Lapsley and tried to get him to come hang and keep me company.  Spent Memorial Day by myself between the computer and watching TV all day.  It was actually kinda peaceful to take a break.  While I’m hearing that Bailey is being bad for Libby, I’m chilling out relaxing, so that got me feeling bad for her.  Then Tuesday, after Charlie and I hung out at the crib Monday night, I woke up with a sense of direction again.  It’s so funny what that little bit of relaxing will do for your brain.  Spent most of Tuesday running around between the dentist and Salon Fx getting Barbara to do my do.  Then while jamming at Nero’s in Green Hills with Leith Lofton Tuesday night, Tommy Tutone showed up and had some quaint yet fun times with us.  Wrote my first song about undergarments this week thanks to Dan Tyler.  The actual title is “The Underwear Song”.  The recording has already begun, so it won’t be long folks, I promise.  After recording the drums with Marc Pisapia yesterday, we went to Joe’s house, his brother, of “Joe, Marc’s Brother” and I toured the new studio he’s been building for a year and let me tell you I can’t wait to make a record in there.  It is awesome!!!!  Mel Tillis graced us with his presence on Thursday night at Loser’s.  I got to accompany two songs on guitar for him. I’ll include the pics…for your pleasure…  Then played at Joe’s Place in town on Friday night, so I sure had a busy week while they were gone.  I would much rather them here, but I think after the weeks was over the girls enjoyed themselves at Poppee’s.

This week, in advance…

I have moved the fan club party for scheduling reasons, so check that info out…ALSO…DSR Cruise 2010…SIGN UP NOW…

I play all 4 nights this week at Loser’s (Nashville) in place of Rhett Anthony from Gonzales, LA…thanks to him for the bread…Can’t wait to play ya’ll the new originals I’ve been recording…

Peace out,
